Always a dawg, we share that bond. Thank you, Spencer
by Malamute, 15 January 2002

There are some Husky players who capture your respect—and heart—right off the bat. Spencer Marona was one of those players who did just that—almost the first day he was dressed in purple and gold.

He gave his all for the Huskies.

At times his jersey was a bit more purple, his helmet a bit more gold than it should have been.

After four shoulder surgeries, indeed it is time to put the uniform away. He can’t do any more, shouldn’t do any more, having earned his place in Husky history, a place reserved for those guys who gave more than expected.

Like an extraordinary shot on the links, the Marona’s keep us coming back. I’ve always remembered the extraordinary shots, but so few of them, never, ever forgetting them-- Spencer as uncommon.

Spencer, Lee, and Sandy Marona, along with Braxton Cleman, Picture Day, 2001
I'll always remember that friendly smile on Picture Day, when I first met him, along with his parents, Lee and Sandy. It isn't always easy asking these big guys for pictures. :) He put me at ease, as did the others.

Like Freddie at Sherwood, during the pro am, their picture day.

They bring you back.

Always a dawg, we share that bond. Thank you, Spencer.
